Christian HELLMICH

Christian studied Civil Engineering at the TU Wien where he obtained in PhD in 1999. After working as a Post-doctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2000-2002, he returned to TU Wien, having been promoted to Associate Professor in 2004, and to Full Professor in 2011.

Research Interests:

Multiscale Continuum Mechanics, material mechanics of geo and biomaterials, coupled problems in engineering, physics, chemistry, and biology

Interests in the biointerface network:

Christian wishes to introduce latest methods and techniques in multiiscale continuum mechanics, as developed in the context of civil and biomedical engineering challenges, for the study of cellular systems and biomolecules and the interface between the living and the non-living world.
