Aleks completed a PhD at the Nanotechnology Department of the Laser Zentrum Hannover, receiving his degree with summa cum laude from the University of Hannover (Germany) in 2008. His doctoral thesis was concerned with the development of a novel micro- and nanomanufactring technology - the two-photon polymerization. Starting 2010 Dr. Ovsianikov is working at the Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) group of the TU Wien. In 2012 he was awarded a prestigious ERC-Grant for a project aimed at the development of biomedical and tissue engineering applications of multi-photon processing.

Additive manufacturing / laser-induced photo-chemistry; Biocompatible/biodegradable photopolymers; Scaffold-based tissue engineering; Photografting / Biofunctionalization; Three-dimensional tissue models

Interests in the biointerface network:

The team of Aleks works on the development of the laser-based technology for precise engineering of 3D cell culture environments on the microscale. It will be used in combination with new materials, developed within biointerface, for experiments on cell adhesion behavior.
