Retreat in Neusiedl am See 2019

We started this semester's retreat (12-14th June 2019) with a one-day workshop on scientific writing. Liz Hambrusch our excellent instructor gave us important insight into putting right emphasis, context and flow.

Our guests, Martina Marchetti-Deschmann and Georg Schitter, gave intriguing talks about mass-spectrometry imaging and recent advances in AFM and confocal microscopy (see abstracts in the program).

This retreat's task for the PhD students was to develop project ideas in random pairs. A 'proposal' for the  cooperation between the two randomly selected students needed to be created. Although the seemingly impossible task, almost every group came up with interesting and valuable ideas.

To enjoy the sunny and hot weather a bike trip along and across (going by ferry- not walking) the lake Neusiedl was done. In the evening we enjoyed a dinner at the Heurigen with great wine and food.

Besides very tasty food, nice and hot weather this retreat was another very enjoyable stay thanks to the very nice people and vibrant atmosphere.

We thank the organization team (Iris Dorner, Rafaela Conceicao, Andreas Rohatschek, Tobia Cavalli and Stefan Helfert)!
